(2-3) Given that the asbestos-cementitious tiles were custom fabricated and installed under the direction of Richardson Brognard Okie, a renowned early 20th century restoration architect and mechanical engineer, we knew that there were no other known replacements, and thus, as a solution, we first relocated the least visible starter course to the other side of the roof, opposite to the street (previous photo), and then, in turn, rebuilt the harvested starter course with Vermont green slateā€”a durable material that, in our experience, weathers dark grey within a year of installation.
